Pinboard Soovle Qwant Goolli

I don't recall where I heard about Pinboard but it coincided with me having become disenchanted with the Delicious social bookmarking site because I could never easily find things I had bookmarked.

There was also the small annoyance that every time I save something using the bookmarklet, Delicious would then open a blank page. Nothing on the page - nada - and I would then just shut it down.

So I read Pinboard's pricing system of a one-time very low fee and saw how it arranged things. And... then I read the blog and that told me that the man who runs Pinboard has a value system with which I could identify.

So I signed up and I'm happy with it.

The last couple of things I have pinned are Soovle, Qwant, and - all alternative search engines. claims that Qwant copied its approach. I wouldn't know, but check them out and see what they do.

While I Am On A Roll With Instagram Embed

The architectural shots are all of Edinburgh.

The clown-woman is Bendy Bonny and she may be at the Edinburgh Fringe again this year. She has a street gig of passing impossibly small unstrung tennis rackets over her head and down her body. Here are some shots I took of her with my camera (rather than the iPhone).

The New Instagram Embed Feature

The new Instragram embed feature announced a couple of days ago, uses iframes.

I know it works with self-hosted Wordpress blogs because I embedded some images on the Quillcards blog yesterday.

It does not work with blogs because Wordpress strips iframes out of posts - leaving nothing there at all. I tested that as well.

Embeds cannot be pinned with Pinterest. I tested that.

And as far as I can tell, embeds do not work with Blogger blogs. At least, the code didn't show as as image when I looked at this post in 'preview' mode a second ago.

Here is the code; let's see what happens when I publish.

<iframe src="//" width="612" height="710" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>

UpdateLet's try something else - such as turning my brain on and writing this post in HTML mode rather than Compost mode...
